Third-Party Quality Control for Construction
Certified Home Inspections offers third-party quality control for new residential construction, offering a professional course-of-construction program that assists builders in ensuring quality workmanship from start to finish on a home.
From the digging of the foundation to framing, from roofing to sheetrock, from stucco installation to the final walk-through, our professional inspectors lend their trained eyes to the building of a new home. While many contractors have company quality assurance programs, the best elect to have an independent third-party company inspect the work of subcontractors to ensure the highest in quality workmanship is attained.
Our inspectors are present at each homesite more than a dozen times during construction checking to see that each phase of building meets or exceeds industry standards. Contractors receive regular reports with findings from each homesite. Inspectors prefer to meet regularly with contractors to review the process of construction and discuss any findings. In some cases, our inspectors are asked by contractors to deal directly with subcontractors to expedite communication. (Findings regarding the electrical system need to be corrected before sheetrock covers the walls.)
Our inspectors take hundreds of photographs during the construction process. Photos are used to document findings during the inspection process. The photos are filed on CDs and presented to contractors after final sign-off has occurred. The contractors also receive a certificate confirming a home has passed its final walk-through and meets construction industry standards. These certificates often become part of documentation contained in a developer’s “new homeowner” package.
